FROM THE STREET #2

Today we visited "Spencers" at the mall in Grand Forks, North Dakota. The #2 girl on the street was all too happy to share her gorgeous french braiding which she did PERFECTLY and tied into a cute messy bun/ ponytail in the back. It looked so neat in the front and yet looked appropriately casual in the back. I had total "hair envy". She wanted to hide her face, lol...so I let her :)....I don't know whether or not it was because we were in Spencers or "just a girl thing"...I know I wasn't looking so hot with my makeup today and would have never allowed a pic of me. Hooray for self done do's!
PS...gotta love the raunchy marijuana necklace and the St. Pat's T-shirt in the background that says "rub for good luck" with two gold shamrocks on the front, lol. I was looking for "fun" St. Patrick's day things but this may not have been the right spot...haha.

DOES THIS HAIRBOW MEASURE UP?

I make hairbows for fun. Not for sale. I gift them to the people I love too...so if you haven't gotten one...well....just kidding.
I LOVE the measuring tape that we all recognize from gramma's sewing basket (actually my grandmother never sewed anything but aprons as far as I can remember but I like to pretend I grew up perfect for my own self-esteem...you know if you lie to yourself long enough, you believe it. I can't remember her actually in an apron either but she did sport some great name brand clothing. So my family has some class, whatever)
Blah, blah...here is the bow. This is a big day for us because it is actually our first ponytail Sarah has been able to have since she chopped off her pigtail some time ago. BTW....she HATES this bow. She cried when I "MADE" her wear it before so I have to sneak it on the BACK of her head. Brilliant idea moms! The teachers love the bow but she doesn't even know which one is back there :) Now that is another WIN/WIN!

DAY THREE...UNWASHED HAIR!

OK, OK....I read an article last week on Yahoo that talked of American women beginning to cut down on the number of times they wash their hair each week, taking on the trend of most other societies. Well, we know that our children really don't get "oily" hair. I don't believe they need their hair washed every single day. But what do you do when your kid has been sporting the six pony-tail hairstyle like I had up a few days ago? Well at 7:30 when you wake up and realize that not only have you slept in while your child is coloring peacefully and you are freaking out that you look like crap, you shove their hair into a giant wad on the top of their head, add a hairbow on each side of the bird's nest wad...and BINGO! ...your kid ONCE AGAIN looks great and you are dragging her into school looking like crap!
OK...my picture quality stinks right now because I have to find my camera since we moved here. Let's just say I'm dissapointed in the blackberry storm right now and waiting for my iPhone contract.
I even ran these suckers through iphoto so they aren't getting any better.
If you look closely at my child...you can see her eyes are a little swollen from bawling because I made her quit coloring as I ran like the madwoman from hell trying to slap on my own makeup to get her to eat some Life cereal.
Yeah...I LOVE being a mom sometimes...I tell my kids all the time...."I love you all! I just don't love you all at the same time..." haha!

DANCE HAIR

A bunch of us moms know what it is like to send your child to school and know that they have to leave school and go directly to dance. Sarah is an Irish Stepdancer for Canada so we have quite a long day. This triple messy bun do is great because it holds the hair nice and tight and you can add a little bow on each bun to show off your "team spirit" no matter what it is. Since Sarah dances for the Brady Academy in Winnipeg, Canada....we have CANADIAN colors!
The middle picture is Sarah in front of a creepy old parlor door inside our old, old farmhouse that we love. She almost looks like a ghost from the 1800's, huh? lol

FROM THE STREET

Saw this cutie pie at the mall and her mom was a good sport about letting me pull out my cell and take a picture of these darling braids. French braid down the center back and "normal" three strand braid attached. It was something different and absolutely darling. I wanted to share it with all you moms out there in time for Valentine's day if you want to try something different. You could even weave some pretty pink ribbon in the accent braids to really show it off.

YAY! for a creative North Dakota mom!
